Gorgeous room design and layout. Great location. Would recommend.

Lovely thoughtful design for the room. Yes it’s tiny but quite delightful. Loved the whole vibe of the property. The location is great and the staff are really helpful with baggage (including a hydronic lift so you don’t have to carry bags up the stairs).

Great urban hotel in Taipei in a 'typical' neighborhood.

Interesting little hotel. Friendly staff. Out-of-the-way neighbourhood. Room was comfortable. All good. Front desk gave us great local food suggestions. Several good night markets nearby.

The counter in the hotel is not staffed for many hours during the day. Not a problem for me, but just something to be aware of.

Cool. Clean & Central(ish)

The cool, ran-down look of this hotel is all for show; in reality the room was very, very clean - probably the cleanest hotel I've stayed in this whole year! (And I travel a lot.) The longer-haired receptionist was also brilliant - he had kindly carried my bag all the way upstairs for me and even gave me an adapter, when it turned out my "universal" adapter didn't actually fit Taiwanese sockets. It's also an easy walk away from the Airport train terminal and close to one of Taipei's many night markets. I did even walk to Ximending and back one evening - which was a bit of a long walk, but definitely possible. So, it is really quite central.

The room was extremely compact - so much so that I had a bit of a hard time figuring out where to lay down and open my bag. So, if you're traveling with big luggage, prepare for some difficulty (there's also no elevator). Also, while the location is central, you have to walk about 15 minutes to reach the nearest MTR station, which is a bit far. The mattresses are also quite hard - I sleep on my side and had to keep turning over at night so my hips wouldn't get sore. This is a fairly common problem for me in SE Asia, though, and the bedding was good otherwise.

Great location and value!

The location is incredible! A short walk to closest bus stop. The hotel has a very cute vibe. Loved the daily cleaning service. Great value for money.

The room is very small and the shower is not separated from the rest of the bathroom. Our room was also on the fourth floor with no lift so only possible if you're fit!

Quiet clean room in central Taipei, nice vintage look, great lobby area.

Impractical bathroom, toilet and entire floor gets wet when showering.

The staff was very friendly and carried my suitcase upstairs. As a solo female traveler - I felt very safe knowing the door downstairs is only accessible with a key card. I liked the pink hairdryer . There was a kettle and mini fridge. The bed was comfortable.

I wish there was a small table or something like that next to the sink where I can put my make up while getting ready. I am being nitpicky here, I know, but it was a bit inconvenient.

Highly recommend!

I was very happy with my stay at Jian Shan! The staff made a late night check in smooth and seamless. The room was clean, well stocked, and the shower was hot with good pressure.

The room is a bit small, but for the price, I was exceedingly satisfied!

The location was great, the room was nice and comfortable, the staff was nice. The amenities were good. The wifi was fast. The decorations and style of design makes the environment cone to life there is just enough space to lounge and rest. There is the pier just 10/min away and the metro and buses are all very close. Also Uber in that area is so fast.

The only part that was a challenge to get used to was the shower. There is no separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom so prepare for everything to get wet in the bathroom.

The overall aesthetic of the place was really pretty. It suits the neighborhood very well. If you're not a huge fan of big cities, this hotel is the perfect one to stay in Taipei. Very charming place. The staff is very nice and helpful. It was just one night but we enjoyed our stay

The stairs were small and cramped. I dont recommend it to people who have trouble walking, or older people.

Fairly close to the city main attractions (15/20 min in subway). Very calm. Nice interiors. Friendly staff.

Ask for upper floor rooms (3rd and more) - the outside AC machines or the streets can be loud at night

Great location in the heart of Taipei - Super friendly staff who welcomed me late in the evening when my flight was delayed. Loved the design of the hotel. Room was very clean and comfortable - basic amenities were provided as well as an optional daily cleaning service. Room was quiet and would recommend!

staff was very friendly. i was late for an hour due to long queue at custom. staff still waited patiently for me. felt quite sorry as staff waited for me since 6am and i reached at 8am. room is spacious enough for a solo traveller and it is comfortable to stay with all the necessary toiletries available. staff helped me to bring my luggage up to my room after i drop off my luggage at hotel. overall, worth the money spent.

it is possible that there were bed bugs as i got few small red bites around the legs
